The Gala Casino in Leeds is hosting the next stop on the Great British Poker Tour and Jo Beevers and Barny Boatman of The Hendon Mob managed to secure their places before it sold out. Jon Kalmar, who placed 5th in the World Series of Poker Main Event, is another name that is sure to draw the railbirds. The winner will get a £21,000 cash prize and a seat at the final in November. Games that are still accepting runners include £50, £100 and £200 tournaments on the 15th, 16th and 17th of August. The main event will take place over the week end of the 18th.
Poker room Party Poker are sponsoring Scandinavia’s first televised high-stakes cash Game, and have two semi-final packages worth $11,000. The $50,000 buy-in to ‘The Game’ is proper High Stakes, but there is a $20,000 runners up tournament. ‘The Game’ itself does not have a typical tournament freezeout structure, but will continue as long as there is money on the table. The bad news is that while the final will be filmed in London between 13th and 17th August, the qualifying seats are only open to Scandinavians.
However, hope comes from PKR.com who is running European Poker Tour satellites for over $52,000 of Barcelona and London EPT packages. The online qualifiers Grand Final for Barcelona will be held at 20.00 GMT on August 10th, with a direct buy-in of $250 + $20. Satellites start from $1.28 and $0.10. The London EPT packages tournament will be on August 13th.
