Tony Hachem smashing through poker records down under

Monday, 1 November 2010

When Tony Hachem began touring the professional poker circuit he was known primarily as the brother of Joe Hachem, who won the World Series of Poker Main Event in 2005 and has since become a Team PokerStars Pro and a mainstay on the tournament fields.

However, Tony has been proving that he has poker chops of his own – like Eric and Robert Mizrachi the poker gene seems to run in the Hachem family with Tony now securing back-to-back Australia and New Zealand Poker Tour Player of the Year awards after making the final table of the ANZPT Darwin event that could see him net a $57,000 first place prize and become the first player to win multiple ANZPT titles.

Hachem has over $325,000 in tournament earnings and his ranked 40th on Australia’s all-time money list. He has a way to go to overtake his brother, though – Joe is way out in front on over $10,900,000 after his Main Event victory and WPT title.
