Tony “Bond18” Dunst leads APPT Sydney Grand Final.

Tuesday, 1 December 2009

The PokerStars Asian Pacific Poker Tour Grand Final at the Sky City casino in Sydney, Australia, kicked off yesterday with the $6,300 AUD Main Event and the $15,000 AUD High Roller event.

The former drew 81 players to Day 1a, finishing up with 50 survivors including Team PokerStars Pro Lee “Final Table” Nelson. The chip leader at the end of the day was online legend Tony “Bond18” Dunst, his 104,325 chip stack way ahead of his nearest competitor on a round 85k.

The main story of the day was not in the larger event, however, but at the rail of the $15k High Roller. Player Mark Ericksen got into a fight – cause unknown – with a man not participating in any events. The tournament was paused while the scuffle was quashed and the offenders reprimanded before continuing the game.

Join us at Bluff Europe tomorrow for more updates on the APPT – hopefully peaceable ones.
