Tom “durrrr” Dwan starts heads-up challenge at Macau

Friday, 19 November 2010

The high stakes cash games in Macau continue to be the biggest poker game ever played with Tom “durrrr” Dwan today beginning a heads-up cash game against “a guy from Shanghai” with blinds at HKD $30,000/HKD $60,000 (roughly $4,000/$8,000 USD).

All the information about the actual match and who is winning is rumour but apparently Dwan bought in for HKD $18m ($2.3m USD) and has lost approximately HKD $10,000,000 ($1.3m USD) and that his opponent has donated over $100,000,000 ($13m USD) to the Chinese poker games at Macau.

The condition of the game is that each player has to show their cards at the end of a hand regardless of showdown; doubtless durrrr was none too hesitant about agreeing to a rule that would allow him to have essentially a live HUD.

The ring games at Macau have also been huge with blinds of HKD $50,000/HKD $100,000 (USD $7k/$14k) reported. Ivey was apparently stuck early to the tune of HKD $8,000,000 but recovered to even with John Juanda and Chau Giang the big winners.
