Tom “durrrr” Dwan reportedly wins $9m USD in heads-up cash game

There are some wild rumours flying around the poker world with regards to the huge high stakes cash games being played in Macau between the local whales and the likes of Chau Giang, John Juanda, Phil Ivey and Tom “durrrr” Dwan.

Gathering the various lines of speculation on the Two Plus Two forums and Twitter it seems that John Juanda was the big winner on the trip with over HKD $10m pocketed – this is a profit of approximately $1.3m USD. According to witnesses the US pros found themselves stuck early when playing against the locals who would never fold – supposedly in one of the first hands Ivey bet HKD $3m with a busted draw and was called by second pair “just wanting to see his cards”.

Tom “durrrr” Dwan was reputedly a $1.7m USD (HKD $12m) winner in the ring games and later was challenged to a $4,000/$8,000 HKD heads-up NL match. In the first session Dwan dropped HKD $20m ($2.5m USD) but made up for it with a huge HKD $68m victory (approx $9m USD or £5.5m) in their second session. It’s impossible to tell who has won exactly what, however according to APT tournament director Matt Savage both Ivey and Dwan left Macau as winners.
