Tom Dwan wins small vs. Daniel Cates in the durrrr challenge

Thursday, 16 December 2010

We’ll give them this – Tom “durrrr” Dwan and Daniel “jungleman12” Cates do get things done. In the past week the two have had several sessions of four-to-six-tabling $200/$400 NL and the challenge is now around a quarter completed. Dwan has cut jungleman12’s lead down from a peak of nearly $800,000 to just $555,000.

In the penultimate session, durrrr booked a small win of around $18,000; less than fifty big blinds, before another quick 254-hand game saw Cates take back a little less than $10,000. However, it was enough to knock durrr’s losses down to around fourteen buy-ins of $40,000.

The 50,000 hand challenge is now over a quarter completed with 12,976 hands played and jungleman12 up $564,400. The two have done this first part of the durrrr challenge in 13 sessions totalling just over 22 hours. On the other hand, Dwan is still yet to play his last 11,000 hands against Patrik Antonius, which has taken dozens of sessions over years. Dwan is up over $2m against Antonius and is sure to get the $500,000 side bet.

Should Cates finish $1 up over Dwan by hand 50,000, let alone $564,400, then he will receive a tasty reward of $1.5m. Dwan is good for it when he finally finishes off Patrik so perhaps that will motivate him to put some hours in with his fellow Team Full Tilt member.

If you’re tired of just watching the durrrr challenge at Full Tilt then throw some money on there and play yourself – not against durrrr, though. A $600 deposit bonus and 27% rakeback should see you through the big six-figure... sorry, six dollar swings.
