The WSOPE Main Event wasn't the only big tournament action in the French capital yesterday as the WPT National Paris hit the Aviation Club.

79 players took to the tables for the opening flight and after 5 levels it was Todd Terry who had taken the lead. The American secured a min-cash at the WSOPE Main Event earlier this week and closed Day 1a on 110,750. Terry scooped a big chunk of change shortly before the close after flopping a Broadway straight to crush Matt Salsberg's set of kings.

Plenty of players from the WSOPE crossed Paris to the Aviation tables with recent bracelet winner Roger Hairabedian (65,850), Jonathan Little (55,000), Phil Laak (52,600), Mike Watson (39,200) and Vitaly Lunkin (34,925) among the 58 opening flight survivors.

Phil Hellmuth's Day 1a was to go the way of Salsberg's though with top set once again unable to hold, in this case against Hairabedian's rivered flush. This is a re-entry event so there's a fair chance that we'll be seeing Phil back again for day 1B.

The Day 1a chip leaders are as follows:

1 Todd Terry 110,750
2 Gilbert Diaz 90,100
3 Jean-Noel Thorel 90,050
4 Grzegorz Wyraz 75,000
5 Micah Raskin 70,500
6 Roger Hairabedian 65,850
