TitanPoker.com has crowned Yann Lelievre its Online Poker World Champion after the Frenchman defeated some tough opposition in a three-month long challenge.
To qualify, players needed to advance through a series of poker leagues and then compete first against fellow countrymen before moving on against some of the best in the world. Fifty-six players advanced to the World Challenge Main Event in December and were vying for the title of Titan Poker World Champion and $100,000 in cash. The Cyprus-based site stated that the remaining 55 players received a share of $55,000.
'Poker is a true passion for me,' said Lelievre.
'I started playing poker in 2006 and it was not long before I realised all the passion that poker can provoke. I was so delighted to win the World Challenge Main Event, especially as it was such a close call. I became Titan Poker World Champion with a three of a kind but just before the pot I only had enough for the big blind.'
Lelievre stated that he intends to continue playing in order to achieve more of his ambitions.
'I'm still very young and I have a lot to learn but I believe that I am getting closer and improving all the time,' said Lelievre.
