Timothy Timotheau wins European Masters of Poker Lisbon

Thursday, 1 April 2010

As comebacks go Timothy Timotheau's return in Portugal wasn't quite chip and a chair territory but it wasn't far off. At the end of Day 1A the Briton was tournament short stack with just over 5,000 chips to his name.

He put that short stack to extremely good use for the remainder of the tournament though, battling his way through the 394 runner field to eventually set up a heads up clash with Lithuania's Povilas Purtokas. The end came just six hands later.

Putakos completed from the small blind bringing a rainbow flop of K-7-4. Both players checked, with a Jack appearing on the turn. Timotheau raised 144,000 and Putakos shoved. The Brit made the call revealing K-9 putting him well in front of the Lithuanian's pocket tens. The river was a blank leaving Timotheau to celebrate a remarkable come from behind victory and with it a first prize of €86,860.

The European Masters of Poker tour heads to Italy for the next leg. The Casino di Campione in the beautiful town of Lugano will be the venue for the four-day festival that will run from 27th to 30th May 2010.

Qualifiers are currently running on the Entraction network, including Devilfish Poker with satellites starting from just €2.
