Tiger Woods Charity Event Set for May 15

Tiger Woods Charity Event Set for May 15

Tuesday, 31 March 2015

Forget Phil 'the Tiger Woods of Poker' Ivey, it's all about the real Tiger Woods and the WPT on May 15.

In an effort to help raise money for his charity, the Tiger Woods Foundation, the legendary golfer will be hosting a poker event inside the MGM Grand, Las Vegas.

The tournament will be the fourth of its kind and on hand to help out with the festivities will be the game's most vocal player himself, Phil Hellmuth.

Assigned to emcee duties for the tournament, Hellmuth will add some colour to the event as the likes of Mike Sexton, Daniel Negreanu, Doyle Brunson and Antonio Esfandiari do their thing at the felt.

Also set to be in attendance and help promote the event is the WPT. As well as offering their tournament experience to proceedings, the long-running poker tour will be filming the action for TV.

As well as professional poker players, the event will also play host to a slew of celebrities prepared to ante-up $10,000 to join the action. Last year the tournament was capped at 50 players and walking away with the title at the end of the night was South African amateur, Kinesh Pather.

This year the generous grinder will be looking for more of the same when the cards go in the air on May 15.
