Thew does it again

Thew does it again

We didn't really need another excuse to describe Julian Thew as one of the best tournament players around but he's given us one anyway. Thew took the honours at the latest Sky Poker Tour event in Dublin over the weekend, his second Sky Poker Tour title.

The man who plays online as 'YoYo' worked his way through a field of 127 runners at the Sporting Emporium club in the Irish capital to walk away with a first prize of £6,600. Thew sealed victory heads up against Peter Stoneman, flopping trips on a 5-5-8-Q-6 to beat his opponent's top pair.

Thew's latest win follows first place finishes in the opening leg of the Genting Poker Series in Birmingham in February and at the £100,000 Guaranteed Deepstack at Dusk Till Dawn in November.

The final table positions and payouts were as follows:

1st Julian Thew £6,600
2nd Peter Stoneman £4,570
3rd Austin Cheetham £3,550
4th Stephen Freeman £2,920
5th Frank Baillie £2,120
6th Vera Duffy £1,650
7th Mark Strahan £1,200
8th Joe Wilkinson £775
9th Rory Brown £635

The Sky Poker Tour heads to Birmingham for its next stop on 8th June. Qualifiers are up and running at SkyPoker.com.
