The founder of Poker Listings, Andreas Oscarsson, found dead

Thursday, 6 August 2009

Andreas Oscarsson, the founder of leading poker site PokerListings.com and WSOP bracelet winnner, was found dead in his bed on Monday morning. He is said to have been shot.

Whilst little detail has yet been released, a statement on PokerListings.com read:

"We are very sad and shocked to confirm that Andreas Oscarsson, founder of PokerListings.com, has tragically passed away while visiting his childhood home in Sweden.

At this point, we do not have any details other than he was found dead in his bed on the morning of August 3rd. He had been shot"

Nothing is mentioned as to why this tragic incident took place but instead PokerListings continue in their statement to offer their condolences to his family and to describe Andreas:

"He was a great source of inspiration and energy to anyone he encountered - at least if you were on the same side of the fence (for those on the other side of the fence, he was a tough negotiator and a worthy, highly respected opponent)."

Indeed such characteristics may have been the root of his downfall, but little remains clear at this point.

What is clear is that he will be deeply missed by many, especially those who have worked with him from the beginning at Poker Listings and of course his family.

"Those of us who knew him well would say that most of all he was a warm and loving father.
