The Vic Deep Freeze Mini Poker Festival & February Events

The Vic Deep Freeze Mini Poker Festival & February Events

Tuesday, 10 January 2012

The seasonally themed mini festival at The Vic, in December, might not have matched the positively mild weather the capital was experiencing but the players who attended didn’t seem to mind.

Between the 27th and 29th December nearly 200 players escaped the house, after the excesses of Christmas and left over turkey, to play in the three scheduled No Limit Texas Hold’em Events. The £200 saw Lalit Khajuria, fresh from his 3rd place finish at the GUKPT Grand Final, triumph over a field of 70. Paul Kerr bested a slightly larger field of 74 to win over £6,000 in the £300. Finally seasoned tournament player Joe Grech quickly made short work of 54 players by winning the £150 turbo.

The Vic promises something slightly different in February with its UK Omaha Series. As the title suggests, the four-day festival from 23rd –26th February will feature exclusively Omaha only events. Five deep stacked and slow structured tournaments will feature with buy-ins ranging from £100 to £500. Among the scheduled events are a 6-Max Turbo, a Hi-Lo and a 2-day main event. The Vic will be running scheduled £70 Freezeout satellites on Wednesday 1st, Wednesday 8th and Wednesday 22nd. Single table satellites will also run during the festival and throughout February.

Saturday and Sunday afternoons are changing too. Saturday afternoons will see The Vic introduce a new tournament to it’s schedule. A £40 No Limit Hold’em Turbo Freezeout, with a 10,000 starting stack and 15 minute blind levels. Sundays are changing also; on non-Loyalty Bonus Sundays a £50 No Limit Hold’em Freezeout will run with a 10,000 starting stack and 25 minute blind levels. Both tournaments will start at 3pm and both will have no registration or rake fee.

The Club’s popular rake cash game Loyalty Bonus scheme is to add a little extra. For five weeks, from Monday 30th January to Sunday 4th March, £250 will be taken out of the Loyalty Bonus jackpot and awarded to the player who has the highest hand for the week. That’s not all, the poker room will be adding £250 to double the prize money! Even more reason to play at the club with the most cash action in the UK.
