The Presidential Race – Craps vs poker?
Tuesday, 19 August 2008

Following the news that Barack Obama is a mean poker player who is eager to readdress the iniquities of the Unlawful Gambling Enforcement Act, comes the revelation that John McCain has an unhealthy obsession with craps. The senator has apparently been known to play craps on impulse 14 hours straight.

Given the choice of a craps player or a poker running America, we know which one we’d prefer. Matthew Yglesias, the respected political blogger, agrees:
“You wouldn't want someone to enjoy 'playing against the odds' with the country's public policy. The fact that McCain seems to think there's some kind of 'betting strategy' that can turn craps into a winning game also raises some questions about his math."
