The Micro’s Big Winner

The Micro’s Big Winner

PokerStars' marquee Micro Millions series came to a conclusion early this morning after the $22 main event crowned a champion.

The $1 million guarantee always looked in jeopardy with over 10,000 players already registered way before the start of the tournament and by the time registration closed a total of 61,072 players pushed the prizepool to $1,221,440.

With so much on offer for so little the pace was intense from the start as players did their best to go big or go home early. That pace soon slowed as the bubble approached, with those on shorter stacks looking to ensure that their multiple hours at the felt produced at least some return on their investment.

For “adrenaline63”, however, the dream of micro riches became a nightmare as the fateful bubble consumed their stack and sent them crashing out short of the money in 7,921st place. The Russian player instantly became everyone’s favourite player and reignited the fervent pace as the $165,789 beckoned.

As the early hours approached so did the finale and with thousands of dead stacks in their wake, the final three began negotiating a deal. With the ICM figures debated and a chop of prizes agreed the remaining trio resumed their quest for the title.

The Czech Republic’s “numeromis” was the first to exit, taking home $125,000 and leaving fellow countryman “Senter268” to battle Russia’s “axel397”. After battling back-and-forth it was “axel397” who finally took the top prize, leaving his opponent to collect $105,000 and banking $140,062, plus the title, for himself.

The MicroMillions series may have finished but there's still plenty of great tournament action on offer at PokerStars. New players can bag a first deposit bonus of up to $600. Sign up PokerStars
