WPT Events and tennis pro Andy Roddick have unveiled a new philanthropic partnership to benefit the Andy Roddick Foundation (ARF), an organisation that seeks to help abused and at-risk children.
A charity poker tournament, the inaugural Andy Roddick Texas Hold 'Em Charity Tournament, will take place in Hollywood on December 8 at the Hard Rock Live venue.
A $500 donation to the ARF gives attendees a seat in the tournament and the chance to go head-to-head with Roddick and other celebrities who will play to support the cause. Proceeds will benefit ARF-supported charities.
'We are pleased to be part of an event that allows people to have fun and enjoy playing poker while giving back to children, families and the community,' said Steve Lipscomb, CEO and founder of WPTE. “This is sure to be a successful event for raising support and awareness for a truly important cause.'
Founded by Roddick in 2001, the goal of the ARF is to improve quality of life and enhance educational and economic opportunities for all children based on three principles – respect for family, education, and morality. 'We couldn't be more thrilled with the overwhelming generosity and support for such a crucial cause,' said Roddick.
