Sitting at the tables in the Andy Roddick Foundation event were some big betters and even bigger names, including Serena and Venus Williams, Mandy Moore, and Nicky Hilton.
With betting limits increasing with every hour that passed, all three Roddick brothers successfully bluffed and checked their way towards a wild card into the World Poker Tour (WPT) Championships. Host Andy Roddick couldn’t conceal his delight at making it into the final two. Reportedly, the US Open Champion stood on a chair, screaming wildly with each card that was turned over. Eventually Roddick aced the final table, taking the crown at his own charity bash.
Roddick won a seat at the 2007 WPT Celebrity Invitational in Los Angeles but stressed that the real winners were the numerous organisations benefiting from the funds raised during the evening.
Founded in 2001, the Andy Roddick Foundation supports organisations that aid in the development of at-risk children and families, including those that have been abused, abandoned and neglected.
