Korea saw victory in the inaugural Battle of the Nations, hosted by JBET and overseen by top tournament director Matt Savage, at the Asian Poker Tour Macau yesterday.
David “Chino” Rheem, who this week already has a side event at the APT under his belt, lead Korea to victory alongside fellow “Poker Pack” member Steve Sung and Brandon Wong.Dominant throughout the event, all three members of Team Korea advanced to the final table en route to their comprehensive victory. They collected a total prize of HK$406,060 (around £30,000).David ‘Chino’ Rheem said: “We’re all delighted that the Korean team picked up first place and that our win was so comprehensive. Halfway through I really thought it was going to be our day. It is always fantastic to win any poker tournament but it gives you something extra when national pride is at stake too!”This was the ninth side event at the 2009 APT Macau – the fourth, a HK$1,000 NLHE event, had already been won by Chino, who is on a roll with over $3.7m in tournament winnings since last year’s WSOP.The Asian Poker Tour Macau hosts over 20 events with 15 official side events.
