Holland’s Rein Zijda has marked his move into the world of live tournaments with an impressive third place finish at the Poker Master Main Event in Austria. The 45-year-old Dutchman who is part of Team CelebPoker, collected a cheque for €19,150.

A field of 84 runners sat down at the luxurious Casino Seefeld in the Tyrolean Alps to compete for the first prize of €35,910, a beautiful crystal trophy and the title of European Poker Master.

After dominating much of the two-day tournament it looked as if Zijda was destined to claim the title. In the end he finished just short, busting out holding pocket sevens to eventual winner Gabor Gyramati’s A6. The flop brought the dreaded ace and the Dutchman was out in third.

It was still a fine result for CelebPoker though as CEO David Donovan commented “We want to congratulate Rein on a stunning result at the Poker Masters. His performance has caused ripples throughout the poker world and I’m sure he will use this as a platform to achieve even greater success on the live circuit. He is a credit to Team CelebPoker and an inspiration to all our online players who each have the opportunity to qualify for the team, and play in the world’s greatest live events, just like him.”
