He’s one of the bright young stars to have emerged from the English poker game. John Tabatabai was the runner up to Annette Obrestad at last summer’s World Series of Poker Europe Main Event, and while the media flurry surrounding the winner was immense, the Englishman had to wait his turn. Now he’s won his first tournament in Swaziland, Tabatabai now has his moment in the limelight.
The 12th All Africa Poker Championships were held in Piggs Peak in Swaziland, an event which has picked up international recognition largely due to South African Raymond Rahme’s final table showing at the Main Event in Vegas. He also final tabled here, having won in previous years, but had to acquiesce to third this time around.
Tabatabai won a cool million for his exploits – rand that is, which is a little over £62,000, picking up a seat to the WSOP Main Event as well. Buckle up America, John ‘Any Two’ Tabatabai is heading over this June.
