Swede leads at EPT London – 24 left

Tuesday, 4 October 2011

64 swiftly became 24 at EPT London today with Mattias Bergstrom heading the chip counts at the close of play. The Swede bagged up 1,838,000 chips putting him a nose in front of Adria Balaguer 1,828,000 and Pascal Hartmann 1,800,000.

James Mitchell, who started day 3 with the chip lead saw his stack diminish to 869,000 but he's safely nestled in the middle of the pack and well placed to make a deep run. The former London Poker Meet regular is the best placed of the British challengers with Martins Adeniya 764,00 and Ben Jenkins 760,000 also flying the flag for Blighty.

Other notables still in contention include long time chip leader Benny Spindler on 1,421,000, Spanish Team PokerStars Pro Juan Manuel Pastor on 960,000, Portuguese pro Joao Barbosa on 601,000 and Sebastian Blom. Viktor's brother will need to go on an Isildur1-esque heater if he wants to go deep though, returning as he does with just 59,000 chips, fewer than four big blinds.

All 24 remaining players are guaranteed at least £16,000 with the top six finishers all securing a six-figure score. The winner walks away with £750,000. We'll be that bit closer to finding out just who that is tomorrow as the remaining two dozen will play down to a final table of nine.
