Spending time away from home can be frustrating. But for the troops out in Iraq, downtime is something that can often be a pain too. That’s why a group of servicemen have got together and formed Screaming Eagle Poker. Aiming to give soldiers something to do in the long hours that they are away from the front, Screaming Eagle meets once a week and gives members a chance not only to hone their poker skills, but win a few non-monetary prizes to boot (the military frowns on actual gambling).
Whilst this is one poker game that most ordinary people can’t take part in, there is the chance for anyone at home to join Screaming Eagle Poker for $25. This will include a T-shirt, a discounted subscription to Bluff and a discount on poker software. 10% of the fee goes direct to the Wounded Warrior Project. This supports troops wounded in conflict and is also one of the key reasons why Screaming Eagle was set up in the first place. Yet again, poker is finding itself helping out in the most bizarre of situations.
