Stuart Pearce's Poker Lesson

Former England international and current Nottingham Forest manager Stuart Pearce exchanged the grass for the felt yesterday as the build-up to WPT Nottingham continued.

Psycho received a poker lesson from Simon 'Aces' Trumper from Dusk Till Dawn, which will be hosting its first World Poker Tour festival next month.

Pearce maybe a novice when it comes to poker but was intrigued to learn more following the PartyPoker.com sponsored session at the University of Nottingham.

“It was really interesting to get some knowledge from a professional about the psychology of the game,” said Pearce, who won 78 caps for England. “It was intriguing to be able to dig under the surface; to see the subtleties.”

The 18-day WPT Nottingham festival runs from 6-23 November and includes the hotly anticipated WPT500, which despite having a buy-in of just £500 carries a monster guarantee of £1,000,000. There are set to be seven starting days, from 9th - 15th November, with one re-entry per day (allowing players a maximum of 14 entries should they choose to play every day of the week). Satellites to the WPT500 are running every day at 17:40 ET with a buy-in of $50.

A million-pound guarantee also applies to the £3,000 Main Event, but organisers are optimistic that this will be topped: "I would like to see us exceed 500 runners over the 2 Day 1s, creating a prizepool of over £1.5M," said Dusk Till Dawn owner Rob Yong.
