Stefan Hansen wins EMOP Gran Canaria

Stefan Hansen has won the opening leg of the third season of the European Masters of Poker (EMOP) tour which got under way in Gran Canaria earlier this week.

The Norwegian outlasted a 213-strong field in the €1,100 buy-in event at the Casino Las Palmas in The Canary Islands. Hansen sealed the win by beating Israel's Yohas Avidani heads up. The chips went in with both players holding pocket pocket pairs. Hansen's 6s held up against Avidani's 3s to give the Norwegian the €34,160 first prize.


Sam Wellbourne was the best placed British player, finishing in eleventh place for a €3,830 score.

Estoril in Portugal is the venue for the next event on the EMOP Tour. The €1,100 Main Event takes place at the Casino Estoril from 23 to 26 March 2011. Qualifiers are up and running at 24hPoker.com.
