Sorel Mizzi Second in Aussie Millions

Sorel Mizzi Second in Aussie Millions

Wednesday, 5 February 2014

The field at the Aussie Millions Main Event is down to just 109 after a rapid-fire day two in Melbourne.

There's plenty of star power still vying for the six-figure first prize though with Sorel Mizzi and John Juanda amongst the leaders heading into day three. Mizzi lies second on 507,100, just behind leader Phillip Willcocks (510,600), with Juanda sitting in seventh on 373,800.

Also well placed for a deep run are Scott Seiver (361,500), Big One for One Drop winner Antonio Esfandiari (349,800), WSOP November Niner Eoghan O'Dea (345,500) and former World Champion Jonathan Duhamel (333,700). Further back are the likes of Erik Seidel, Jason Mercier and Annette Obrestad.

The British contingent will be hoping to do what their cricketing countrymen failed to manage during their disastrous winter tour. Craig McCorkell leads the challenge from Blighty with recent UKIPT runner up Liv Boeree and high roller specialist Paul Newey also handily placed.

The bubble should burst early into tomorrow's action with 72 players making the money. The min cash is set at AU$15,000 (£8,196) with the eventual winner walking away AU$1.6m (£874,000) to the good.
