Once again, poker is trying its best to rid itself of its old reputation and bring about some good through charity. This time it’s the turn of the Small Town Poker Tour, which has announced it will be holding a number of games of Texas Hold’em at Native American casinos to raise cash for the North American Indigenous Games.
To try and entice even more indigenous folks into the casinos, the STPT are not only offering substantial cash prizes but also a seat at the WSOP main event along with travel expenses and hotel rooms. The money that participants hand over to the house will go towards the North American Indigenous Games, which take place in Denver and Colorado Springs for a week in July. With over 16 sports, the event will play host to 8,000 athletes and 50,000 spectators. They believe that with the backing of the world’s largest amateur poker tour, they can raise the funds necessary to host a bigger games than ever. Once again, poker’s doing it for the community.
