Slaktarn Takes Down $25,000 Heads-Up PLO Event on Full Tilt

Tuesday, 9 September 2008

Sixty-four of the best players in the world were assembled to take part in the Full Tilt $25,000 Heads-Up Pot Limit Omaha World Championship. The tournament provided some epic pairings, an untold amount of suspense for the railbirds and ultimately a winner no one expected.

Online player slaktarn seemed to be up against it when he was paired with Patrik Antonius in the final, but he eventually beat the Finn to wrap up the $560,000 first prize. Antonius had to beat Hac Dang – aka Urindanger – in his semi, and after declining to make a deal in the final ended up settling for $320,000 as runner-up.

Due to the large buy-in, Slaktarn managed to win more than if he had won either the WSOP heads-up event or the NBC Heads-Up Poker Championship. Brit Ben Grundy also took a handy scalp in Round One when he beat Phil Ivey, and promptly dispatched Robert Williamson III in the second round. Sadly 'The Milky Bar Kid' couldn't get through his third round opponent.
