Sky Poker Launch Live Poker Tour

Wednesday, 20 August 2008

Sky Poker has announced they will be making the transition from online-poker to brick and mortar with a new tour around the UK. The new Sky Poker tour will travel around the country before coming to a conclusion at a televised final tournament at the Dusk Till Dawn Card Room in Nottingham. The final event will carry a guaranteed prize pool of £25,000.

“There is an incredible demand from our community of players for more live events and so we are delighted to announce the launch of this six-leg Sky Poker Tour,” said Emma Crowe, head of marketing at Sky Poker. “We have hosted a series of one off live events in the past 12 months last year, all of which were very popular.”

The tour will only be available to players who have qualified online though the Sky Poker site, with satellites beginning from as little as £2.65 – not too shabby when you could walk away with a large chunk of the £25,000 prize pool.

The first leg will take place at Dusk Till Dawn on 13th September before heading off around the UK before returning for the season finale back in Nottingham in June 2009. The final leg will bring back the top ten finishers of the first five tournaments and will be televised live on Sky Channel 865. Participants in the live events will also have the chance to play with some of Sky Poker’s famous presenters, including Norman Pace, Michelle Orpe, Richard Orford and Tony “Tikay” Kendall.
