Side events added to Irish Open line up

Tuesday, 18 December 2012

Christmas may be just around the corner but here at Bluff Europe Towers we're already turning our attention to Easter and in particularly the 2013 Irish Open. Tournament sponsor paddypowerpoker.com has unveiled details of a busy side event programme.

The long-running festival takes place at the Burlington Hotel in Dublin from March 29 to April 1 and will feature ten side events, three more than last year'.

Included for 2013 is a €225 buy-in Irish Open Mini Main Event with a 10,000 chip starting stack and 30-minute clock, along with a €560 buy-in six-handed PLO tournament.

The Irish Open 2013 will also see the return of popular events such as the €335 buy-in no-limit hold’em turbo tournament and the €170 buy-in no-limit hold’em ‘scalps’ event.

“We’ve continued to listen to the players and what the players want is poker,” read a statement from paddypowerpoker.com. “So, on top of reducing the main event buy-in this year we’ve increased the number of side events, which will include a new Irish Open Mini Main Event. With a buy-in of €225, we’re sure the Irish Open Mini Main Event will appeal to a wide range of pockets and will hopefully attract a lot of more casual and recreational players down to the Burlington to experience the unique atmosphere one of Europe’s greatest poker festivals.”

Weekly online qualification for the Irish Open 2013 main event is already under way at 8pm each Sunday via its €176 no-limit hold‘em freezeout competitions. A guaranteed trio of packages each worth €3,200, including €395 for five nights’ accommodation as well as €525 for flights and spending, are on offer through this route.

On Mondays from 8pm, paddypowerpoker.com is also holding €33 buy-in no-limit hold‘em rebuy/add events guaranteeing one Irish Open 2013 main event seat while another is available on Thursdays from the same time via its €109 buy-in no-limit hold‘em freezeout tournaments.

All paddypowerpoker.com satellite qualifiers will be eligible to take part in its Sole Survivor campaign, which will see the longest-lasting online qualifier on the day walk away with a cash prize of €50,000 in addition to main event seats into the World Series of Poker (WSOP) 2013 and Irish Open 2014.
