Shropshire lad to face Evander Holyfield at Poker in the Park

Wednesday, 1 September 2010

An amateur poker player from Shropshire will go head to head with Heavyweight Champion of the World Evander Holyfield in what promises to be one of the highlights of this week's Poker in the Park.

Leif G, who plays online as GutShotRot sealed his seat after winning RealDealPoker.com's Beat The Champ promotion on Sunday. The man from Ludlow will now go head-to-head with the five-time World Champion on Thursday 2nd September at 7.30pm with the winner taking 75% of the €2,300 prize pool.

“I liked the real cards at RealDealPoker.com the first time I tried it,” said the player. “It feels more like live games than an RNG site. I used to play every week in the poker pocket pub league at my local pub,” said the player who’s had a few €3000 wins both online and in casinos. “In my first season I scored the highest points ever for the pub. All in all I just love poker! It’s going to be surreal playing against a World Heavy Weight champion. I mean, this guy knocked out Tyson!”

The father of three has his mum to thank for his poker prowess, teaching him seven-card-stud and five card draw when he was a youngster. He'll have his family and friends on hand to witness his one on one with the champ.

Poker and boxing fans can watch the contest in the RealDealPoker.com's marquee at Poker in the Park.
