Should Poker be an Olympic Sport?

With the Olympics in full swing, UK playing card manufacturers Waddington’s have conducted a survey asking members of the public whether poker players should be competing for gold medals rather than gold bracelets.

Surprisingly, a third of respondents decreed that, yes, poker should be declared an Olympic sport. This is good news for Team GB, which seems to be pretty good at sports of the “sitting down” variety.
Of course, should poker become an official sport, it would then be eligible for government funding. Imagine that! We could apply for lottery grants to bankroll us into the big game. We can but dream…
