Sheringham in British invasion of EPT Vilamoura final

Sheringham in British invasion of EPT Vilamoura final

Thursday, 2 September 2010

The odds of a British EPT champion in Portugal look strong as three Britons have managed to conquer the final eight players of the PokerStars EPT Vilamoura; Toby Lewis, Sam Trickett and footballing legend Teddy Sheringham occupy the top three spots and hold well over three-quarters of the chips in play with Lewis leading Trickett by just two antes.

Trickett is one of the UK's best young players having emerged into the limelight after a GUKPT Luton win worth over £60,000. Lewis, like Trickett, has a string of final tables and near misses under his belt and is long overdue a major title.

Teddy Sheringham, with 51 England caps and over 350 goals in a 23-year career, should need no introduction. He was last seen on the tournament circuit finishing 14th at the World Series of Poker Europe. The final table begins at 12.00 local time.

The chip counts are as follows:
1. Toby Lewis (3,322,000)
2. Sam Trickett (3,318,000)
3. Teddy Sheringham (1,783,000)
4. Jason Lee (1,167,000)
5. Sergio Coutinho (872,000)
6. Martin Jacobson (441,000)
7. Frederik Jensen (375,000)
8. Rob Hollink (259,000)
