Sheldon Adelson Flaws Exposed

Sheldon Adelson Flaws Exposed

Friday, 21 August 2015

The long-running battle between Sheldon Adelson, CEO for American land-based casino operator Las Vegas Sands Corporation, and the online poker community took a positive twist this week thanks to a YouTuber known as Tim James.

Investigative reporter James decided to test Adelson's security credentials by sending two undercover and underage patrons into one of his bricks-and-mortar casinos.

One of Adelson's main reasons for wanting a complete ban on online poker in the US (and likely the world as well) is that it's dangerous for kids. Suggesting that online operators aren't able to control who logs into their sites and wagers real money, the 82-year-old billionaire businessman has continually claimed that his mission to ban online poker is about protecting the vulnerable.

Unfortunately, it seems as though this focus on the virtual world has stopped Adelson from worrying about his live ventures. In a short video published by James, one male and one female both under the age of 21, can be seen buying drinks, gambling and even picking up prostitutes in Adelson's Venetian casino in Las Vegas.

The video has received a wealth of support from the poker community since it went live and so far the nine-minute piece has been viewed more than 37,000 times in a week. Although the effort is unlikely to stop Adelson, it's yet another piece of ammunition the community can use to push back against his anti-iGaming efforts.
