Selbst's UKIPT High Roller win

Selbst's UKIPT High Roller win

Tuesday, 8 October 2013

Vanessa Selbst has added yet another line to her already hugely impressive tournament CV after winning the PokerStars UKIPT London £2k High Roller.

The recently married Selbst worked her way through a field of 177 runners and boosted her bankroll by £67,499 after beating UK pro Max Silver heads up.

“The final table was really tough,” poker's first lady told the PokerStars blog. “It doesn’t usually happen in this kind of tournament but when it got down to the last four or five players, they were all really good.”

“I’ve been feeling really confident about my game lately. I wasn’t feeling like that in the World Series. I felt that I underperformed there but in the last few months I really feel like I’ve been playing my A game so it feels nice to have results that reflect that.”

The final table positions and payouts were as follows:

Vanessa Selbst, United States, £67,499
Max Silver, United Kingdom, £59,906
Kenny Hallaert, Belgium, £35,335
Joni Jouhkimainen, Finland, £28,810
Paul Edward Byrne, United Kingdom, £22,970
Salvatore Bonavena, Italy, £17,650
Joe Kuether, United States, £12,840
Thomas Muhlocker, Austria, £9,305

Hellmuth's Open Face Chinese Triumph

Despite all of his bracelet wins at the World Series of Poker Phil Hellmuth, somewhat amazingly, has never even cashed in a European Poker Tour event. Until now that is. The Poker Brat broke his duck in the Open Face Chinese event at EPT London over the weekend outrunning a 21-runner field in the £2,000 buy in event. Hellmuth pocketed £15,800 for the win with Barry Greenstein also making the money.
