Seidel to face Chan in WSOP Grudge Match

Thursday, 26 May 2011

WSOP organisers last month announced that they would be hosting a trio of World Series Main Event rematches, confirming who would take part in two of them but putting the third contest to a public vote.

The choices were 1988 Johnny Chan vs Erik Seidel, 2004 Greg Raymer vs David Williams, 2006 Jamie Gold vs Paul Wasicka and 2010 Jonathan Duhamel vs John Racener. There was really only ever going to be one winner in this poll and so it proved with the hottest running poker player on the planet, Erik Seidel, resuming battle with Johnny Chan in a Rounders rematch.

2nd June will be a busy day for Chan, who made a successful return to High Stakes Poker last week. As well as taking on The Seiborg, Chan will face off against Phil Hellmuth in a reprise of the 1989 Main Event. The third match will see Chris Monyemaker take on Sammy Farha.

All three matches will be televised on ESPN next month.
