While most eyes at the PCA were turned on former footballer Ronaldo's quest for Main Event glory, elsewhere a bumper field was building for the $25,000 High Roller.

By the close of the opening day, 197 players plus re-entries had created a record-breaking field of 257 runners. There's still time to add to that impressive figure as entry is allowed up to the start of Tuesday's Day 2 action.

After 10 hours of play the man nursing the biggest stack was Scott Seiver. The American was the only player to crack the 300,000 barrier and will start day 2 with a stack of 307,000.

Next come EPT Vienna winner Oleksii Khoroshenin (272,000) followed by Irishman Niall O'Farrell (271,100) and Georgios Sotiropoulos (262,000) with and Team PokerStars Pro Andre Akkari (258,800) rounding out the top five.

117 players survived the opening day action including British Poker Award nominee Davidi Kitai, Faraz Jaka, Jason Mercier and Daniel Negreanu who all built up above average stacks.

UK hopes remain high too with Max Silver, Paul Newey, Jake Cody and Tamer Kamal all making strong starts.

The $25,000 High Roller action resumes at noon local time.
