The Sports Legends Challenge is scheduled to take place from September 14 to 17 at the Atlantis Paradise Island resort and hotel and will feature 25 athletic icons including Troy Aikman, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Richard Petty and Sugar Ray Leonard. The sporting greats will compete in a range of poker tournaments for up to ten million dollars in prize money alongside 25 top professional players including Phil Hellmuth, Annie Duke, Chris Moneymaker and Johnny Chan.

Absolute Poker is running a series of nightly qualifiers giving amateur players the chance to take part in this once in a lifetime event. The satellites have a direct buy-in of $215 and will run from 10:45pm from Wednesday to Sunday each week between now and September 6 inclusive.

Each Sports Legends Challenge satellite will award a minimum of one luxury prize package including entry to the inaugural four-day tournament, which will also feature mixed martial arts legends Chuck Liddell and Randy Couture alongside skateboard icon Tony Hawk and hockey legend Mark Messier.

The Sports Legends Challenge is being held to benefit the Butch Kerzner Summit Foundation and will finish with the penultimate Sports Legends All-Star Poker Challenge. Due to be televised nationally on Thanksgiving Day through on Fox Sports, this winner-takes-all no-limit Texas hold’em grand final will feature the sports legends and professional poker players battling it out against the top-finishing amateur competitors.
