Sapiano wins Genting Big Game

Wednesday, 3 April 2013

Exactly a year ago Albert Sapiano was celebrating victory in the Genting Poker Series event in London. Sapiano is at it again again 12-months later after taking down the April edition of the Genting Poker Big Game at Bluff at The Mint in South Kensington.

The tournament veteran outlasted a field of 36 runners to win his first four-figure score of 2013. After Paul Zimbler was eliminated in fifth place, losing a flip with QQ against AK despite flopping a queen, the remaining four players agreed a chop which saw each of them walk away with £8,550.

Joe Beevers was the unlucky bubble boy. The Hendon Mobster lost a big chunk of his stack after calling off Ergun Macit's pocket tens shove with AK. Former Irish Open champ James Mitchell finished him off, when his AK held to beat Beevers' Q7.

The final positions and payouts were as follows:

1st - Albert Sapiano £8,550
2nd - Paul Byrne £8,550
3rd - Ergun Macit £8,550
4th - James Mitchell £8,550
5th - Paul Zimbler £1,800

The next major tournament action at Bluff at the Mint is the £440 buy-in, £25,000 GTD Main Event which takes place on 20 and 21 April. The £1,000 Big Game returns on Monday 5 May. Cash action runs every day.
