Sam Trickett leads Epic Poker League Event #1 into the money

Thursday, 11 August 2011

Day 2 of the inaugural Epic Poker League event – a $20,000 buy-in 6-max tournament – concluded early this morning with 18 players remaining, all guaranteed a payout of at least $43,190 for outlasting 119 of the world’s best players.

British player Sam Trickett leads the final three tables as the only player to have crossed the one million chip milestone, putting him way ahead of second place Hasan Habib’s 646,000.

Other survivors of the past two days include Global Poker Index (GPI) ranks 2, 3 and 4 – all at the same table no less. Jason Mercier, Eugene Katchalov and Erik Seidel are all playing tomorrow and whomever survives longest will likely take the GPI #1 ranking.

Other notable names left in contention include Victory Poker CEO Dan Fleyshman and Justin Bonomo, who both have some work to do with stacks of less than 18 big blinds. Noah Schwartz, Gavin Smith, Hoyt Corkins, Chino Rheem and Matt Glantz are also returning to compete for a million dollar first prize.
