With all eyes on Las Vegas there was the small matter of a first prize worth €450,000 to be won on this side of the Atlantic at the latest WPT event in Amneville.
In the end the 541 runner field was whittled down to just one and that one was Sam El Sayed who won the title in style holding pocket kings against heads up opponent Frank Pepe's K10. Understandably, all the chips went in on a 10 high board but there was to be no miracle for Pepe who had to settle for €229,613 for his second place finish. In addition to the almost €425k in cash, El Sayed also won an entry to the 2011 WPT World Championship at Bellagio worth $25,000.The final table positions and payouts were as follows:1 Sam El Sayed €426,425 + an entry to WPT World Championship at Bellagio (worth 25,000$)2 Franck Pepe €229,613 + an entry to the next WPT Paris (worth 10,000€)3 Ilan Boujenah €161,5504 Nesrin Kourdourli €109,8865 William Bresson €79,5456 Jean-Paul Pasqualini €62,3237 Julien Robert €46,7438 Georges Chehade €34,442The World Poker Tour heads to North Africa for its next stop.
