Sam Barnhart wins WSOP Circuit event Tunica for $148,612

Wednesday, 16 February 2011

Sam Barnhart has been crowned the new World Series of Poker Circuit champion after a 480-strong tournament field was whittled down to one at Harrah’s Tunica over the past week. Barnhart wins not only a gold ring and $148,612 but also a spot in the $1,000,000 Freeroll in May at Las Vegas.

Despite the final table being led by a man named Nguyen, the guy with the talented name busted out in sixth place and eventually Barnhart was heads-up with Jesse White for the title, holding what amounted to a little less than a two-to-one chip lead. Fortunately for Barnhart it was only a matter of time before he picked up pocket kings, raised and called the inevitable re-raise all-in.

The final table payouts were as follows:

1.Sam Barnhart $148,612
2.Jesse White $91,881
3.Mary Harden $67,122
4.Brian Burney $49,759
5.Marco Palacios $37,422
6.John Nguyen $28,547
7.Preston Derden $22,623
8.Kurt Jewell $17,328
9.John Holley $13,789
