Sam Barnhart wins 2011’s first bracelet at WSOP-C $1m event.

Tuesday, 31 May 2011

Even though we’re not due to shuffle up and deal for the first open event of the 2011 World Series of Poker – the $25,000 NL HU begins tonight – Sam Barnhart has claimed the first WSOP bracelet of 2011, ahead of even the Casino Employees’ Event winner. The WSOP-C Tunica champion beat a field of 100 in the WSOP-C National Championship $1m freeroll to take home $300k and the gold.

The 100 players assembled were the champions, final tablers and repeat cashers of the 2010/11 WSOP-C and were in Caesar’s Palace, Las Vegas, to play out for a $1,000,000 prize pool put on by the WSOP. Sam Barnhart was the man with the cards and chops to triumph and win the top prize of $300,000.

Midwest Regional champion James Anderson began heads-up with a small lead over Barnhart but that changed in the space of a few cooler hands. Barnhart eventually got it in with top pair and held up to take home the title.

The full payouts were as follows:

1.Sam Barnhart $300,000
2.James Anderson $200,000
3.Josh Evans $135,000
4.La Sengphet $100,000
5.Jonathan Poche $75,000
6.Charles “Woody” Moore $55,000
7.Drazen Ilich $42,500
8.Adam Hui $35,000
9.Matt Lawrence $30,000
10.Huy Nguyen $27,500
