Ryan Van Sanford Wins WPT Jacksonville

Thursday, 13 November 2014

In the wake of this year's WSOP Main Event finale, another WPT event has come to a conclusion, this time in Jacksonville.

After welcoming 461 players, including 40 players with a $2,500 bounty on their head, to the bestbet casino, the final table took place last night and when the betting was over it was Ryan Van Sanford that walked away as the champ.

Having seen the likes of Christian Harder, Shannon Shorr and Jamie Gold fall just short of the final table, Sanford was able to start the finale in a strong position to challenge for the title.

As play got under way it took just a few hands before Cory Hochman's Kd Qh was outpaced by Sanford's As Qs. Soon after securing that pot, Sanford continued to ride his wave of positive momentum and eliminate Jason Helder.

At this point Sanford was in control of proceedings and by the time Chris Bolek stood in between his title hopes, he was in a dominant position. In fact, such was the 21-year-old's power that he needed just 16 hands to dispatch with his opponent and claim his first WPT title just three days after reaching the legal gambling age.
