Harrah’s Entertainment have released the 2008 edition of its rulebook, which has made some changes to the way people can play – and celebrate – their poker. In a move which might be aimed at players such as Humberto and his sharks or Hevad Khan and his funky monkey dance moves…
“Excessive celebration through extended theatrics, inappropriate behavior, or physical actions, gestures, or conduct may be subject to penalty. Any player that engages a member of the tournament staff during the celebration or utilizes any property of Harrah’s will be penalized in accordance with Rules No. 31 and/or 51. Harrah’s property includes but is not limited to chairs, tournament tables, and stanchions.”
Another rule change which may prove to popular with a lot of poker players is the showing of one card at the end of a hand. Last year’s rule stated:
“At the end of a hand, if a player exposes one hole card, he or she must also show the other hole card if asked to do so by any player.”
That has now been scraped, and players will now be allowed to show one card if they like, but only when the hand is over.
One other rule that is worth paying attention to is the one about mobile phone and communication devices. According to the rule changes, devices that can access the Internet, send or receive SMS texts, or have communication devices are prohibited. Blackberrys, iPhones, iTouch, and Treos will not be allowed at the table.
The full rule book can be found here.
