Ross Jarvis wins latest leg of the Sky Poker Tour

Tuesday, 9 March 2010

We don't normally acknowledge other poker magazines but we'll give credit where credit's due. So big congratulations to poker journalist Ross Jarvis who took the honours at the latest leg of the Sky Poker Tour in Luton over the weekend.

Jarvis outlasted a field of 150 qualifiers who were battling for a piece of the £15,000 prize pool. He navigated his way through a final table that included former Chelsea, Tottenham and Swindon midfielder Micky Hazard and Sky Poker presenter Trevor Harris to set up a heads up clash with long time chip leader Tony 'Penguin' Stroud.

And no sooner had it begun than it was all over. Jarvis raised the first hand of heads up play only to see Stroud move all in. Jarvis made the call revealing A9 and making him a decent favourite over the Penguin's J10. The board helped neither player leaving Jarvis better off to the tune of £4,000 with Stroud having to settle for £2,600 for his second place finish.

1st Ross Jarvis (Poker Player magazine) £4,000
2nd Tony Stroud (Penguin) £2600
3rd David Crane (DC777) £1,800
4th Phil Jenkins (Phil12UK) £1,350
5th Les Waterhouse (MrWhizz72) £1,050
6th Trevor Harris  £900
7th Jason Priestley (ZIT999) £750
8th David Gee (QWFT-GMAN) £600
9th Micky Hazard £450
