Ross Boatman wins WPT Marrakech High Roller event

Ross Boatman has continued his excellent run of recent form by winning the High Roller at the latest WPT event in Marrakech, Morocco. The Hendon Mobster outlasted a field of 45 runners in the €9,000 buy in event to claim a first prize of €135,535.

Play went into an unexpected third day after an overrun on Day 2. After the slowness of the first two days the action exploded into life on Day 3 with the final table lasting less than two hours. After hitting a flush to eliminate Thomas Bichon in 3rd place, Boatman needed only two hands to defeat runner up Dominik Nitsche.


With blinds at 2,500/5,000 with a 500 ante the young German, holding a pair of deuces raised. Boatman re-raised and Nitsche pushed all in. The Londoner called revealing KJ for a classic race. A Jack appeared on the flop giving Boatman the victory. It’s the latest in a run of excellent form for the actor turned poker player. He reached final tables in Omaha events at both the WSOP in Vegas and at the WSOPE at the Empire.


It proved to be a real family affair for the Boatmans as Ross’s brother Barny finished in 4th place for a €41,017.
