The former Brazil and Real Madrid striker Ronaldo has just been announced as the latest signing to PokerStars pro roster.

Following in the footsteps of other sporting greats, such as Boris Becker and Rafa Nadal, Ronaldo joins the teams as an ambassador for PokerStars’ Brazilian market.


Known as one of the greatest strikers of all-time thanks to accolades that include: leading scorer in World Cup history, FIFA World Player of the Year three times and two World Cup winner’s medals, Ronaldo is arguably one of the most famous sportsmen of the last 10 years.


Indeed, even before the news was announced on PokerStars’ Brazilian blog, a tweet from the former footballer got forum posters on 2+2 talking:
“More sport in my life. Not it’s all-in.”


On top of the tweet he’s been seen at a number of poker tournaments alongside some of Brazil’s best players, including Felipe Ramos and Andre Akkari.


Commenting on his new found love for poker, Ronaldo said: “Poker is another challenge that excites me. I enjoy trying to read my opponents and choosing the best way to win.”


Ronaldo will represent PokerStars at tournaments across the world, as well a take part in various campaigns in the same way as Rafa Nadal has been doing recently.
