Romanello riding high at WPT Venice

Thursday, 15 December 2011

As expected, a much bigger field was on hand for the second opening flight of WPT Venice with a total of 213 players paying the €3,300 buy-in. Of those, just 95 are back for day 2 with Andrea Dato leading the way on 217,300 followed by Raffaele Bertoluccit on 169,400 and Stephen O'Dwyer on 159,000.

Also riding high is recent WPT and EPT winner Roberto Romanello who closed Day 1 with a stack of 133,200, good enough for sixth on the leader board. Fellow Brit Zimnan Ziyard also survived to Day 2 but will have his work cut out, returning as he does with a stack of just 19,900.

Other notables back today include Arnaud Mattern, Alessio Isaia, Dominik Nitsche and Mustapha Kanit.

Five 90-minute levels are scheduled for today with the money bubble set to burst at 27th place. The min cash is €5,705 with the winner set to walk away with a first prize of €175,000.
