Romanello bags two EPT awards

Thursday, 3 May 2012

Season Eight of the European Poker Tour drew to a close on Tuesday evening with a special event to honour the best performances of the year.

The big winner of the evening was Roberto Romanello who scooped two prizes. The Welshman took the EPT Achievement of the Year Award (which is voted by the media) and the Players' Choice Award (which, as the name suggests, is voted by players on the EPT circuit).

The Czech Republic's Ondrej Vinklarek was named the overall Player of the Year in recognition of a season that saw him cash in no fewer than 11 EPT events (is the the new Luca Pagano?). Other winners included Khiem Nguyen (Omaha Player of the Year), Salvatore Bonavena (Mixed Game Player of the Year), Melanie Weisner (Heads-Up Player of the Year), Pierre Neuville (Online Qualifier of the Year) and Lebanon (Best Country).

Season nine of the European Poker Tour starts in Barcelona in August. Satellites will be up and running at PokerStars shortly. New depositors can bag a first deposit bonus of up to £400. Sign up here.
