Roland de Wolfe wins first WSOP bracelet to complete Triple Crown

Tuesday, 16 June 2009

Roland de Wolfe, sporting a rather natty Union Flag style hoodie, has won the WSOP $5,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-low Split-8 or Better bracelet and in doing so has joined a very exclusive club. Before this week only Gavin Griffin had won a WSOP bracelet, an EPT title and a WPT event. De Wolfe’s victory completed the set.

The 29-year old from London outlasted a field of 198 runners including a final table which featured Andy Black, Alex Kravchenko and former bracelet winner Scott Clements to pick up the $246,616 first prize and the all important bracelet.

Commenting on winning the so-called Triple Crown de Wolfe said “Ever since I won the event in Dublin at the EPT, I have been wanting the bracelet, which is the missing link. Three years I have been here at the finals, and today I finally got a few breaks. I am very much aware of the history behind this, and the best thing of all is to win all three (major poker titles).”

The victory marks an excellent week for British poker after JP Kelly claimed the $1,500 Pot Limit Hold Em event days earlier.

The final table positions and payouts were as follows:

1 Roland DeWolfe $246,616
2 Brett Richey $152,618
3 Scott Clements $101,063
4 Robert Campbell $72,121
5 Alex Kravchenko $53,881
6 Andrew Black $42,993
7 John Racener $36,200
8 Armando Ruiz $32,105
9 Anthony Lellouche $29,965
